How OneWorld Solar got here
OneWorld was founded in 2001 as a residential and light commercial solar installer, back when very few companies in the Southeast were doing either. By 2017 it had gone out of business.
Doug Baird acquired it in October 2017 and rebuilt it around a different customer: businesses that measure their power bill in tens of thousands of dollars a month. In the years since, revenue has gone from zero to $7.8 million in 2024, we have served more than 300 customers, and we have installed over 7.8 MW for commercial solar and battery clients — including the 1.267 MW rooftop array and 55,000 lb of battery storage at the Samsonite and TUMI distribution center in Vidalia, Georgia.
Along the way the company was awarded a patent for solar racking in 2020 and a second patent in 2025. We design and build with our own racking, which is unusual for a contractor of this size and is the reason we can commit to a roof detail rather than defer to whatever a supplier ships.
OneWorld Solar is a disabled veteran-owned business. That is not a marketing line — it reflects how the company is run and who runs it.
What we actually do
We are a commercial solar EPC contractor: engineering, procurement and construction under one contract. Alongside solar we build three-phase hybrid battery storage, micro-grids and power factor correction, and we manufacture our own BatteryCube® storage cabinets.
Our work concentrates in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and the Caribbean.
